There have been two major lessons that keep coming back in my time here. Learning to trust God is the first one. Trusting this mystic process and believing without a doubt that everything is, and will be, OK. That it is all working out as it should. The only thing left for me to do is put in effort and have unwavering faith in the Creative power. This leads right in to the next lesson. Detachment. I’ve recently grasped this concept in a new light. Detachment to me now looks more like trust and unconditional love rather than apathy or indifference. It is being detached from what we want the fruits and rewards of our actions to be. Instead, we take action towards a certain goal without being attached to the results, welcoming whatever comes and trusting with unwavering faith that this outcome will always serve us, at its due time.
In my daily physical practice I can look at it as working on my handstand to the best of my abilities simply for the sake of practicing the pose, without being attached to the result of whether I actually achieve the handstand or not. What truly matters is the journey (the practice) and the lessons we learn there, not the destination (the perfect pose). The valuable lessons will get us where we need to go next because, in reality, we are never done. The journey is the destination.
We must remain willing to continue learning and growing. The Universe is always conspiring in our favor.
